How to Recover an Unsaved Word Document?

Follow these steps to recover an unsaved Word document:

  1. Open Microsoft Word
    Open Microsoft Word after the document was accidentally closed or lost.
  2. Click on File Tab.
    Choose the File tab located in the top-left corner of the screen.
  3. Select “Info”.
    Choose “Info” form the left-hand menu.
  4. Click on “Manage Document”.
    Under the Info section, click the Manage Document drop-down button.
  5. Choose “Recover Unsaved Documents”
    From the dropdown options, select Recover Unsaved Documents.
  6. Browse the AutoRecover folder.
    A list of unsaved documents will be showed in the AutoRecoer folder.
  7. Select your file.
    Click the document you want to recover and then click on the Open button.
  8. Save the recovered file.
    Now you can edit, and save the document in your computer with giving proper name.

To reduce the chance of losing work in the future, make sure AutoRecover is turned on by going to File > Options > Save, and adjusting the time interval for saving backups.
