Follow the below steps to insert page numbers in a Microsoft Word document:

  • Launch Microsoft Word and open the document in which you want to add page numbers.
  • Click on the Insert tab in the top menu bar.
  • In the Header & Footer group, click the Page Number. A drop-down menu will appear. See in the above screenshot.
  • Now choose the position of the page number where you want it to appear:
  • Top of Page (Header)
  • Bottom of Page (Footer)
  • Page Margins
  • Current Position
  • Choose a numbering style from the available options. The page numbers will be inserted automatically.
